Battery Disposal Procedures

When a lead acid type battery is disposed of by our company, it follows a certified procedure. SBS will accumulate enough batteries to make a full 45,000 lb. truckload. Each pallet or container is banded and packaged to D.O.T. specifications and then sent to one of the EPA approved recyclers listed below:

1.Resource Plastics Corp.
3385 S. Hwy 149
Eagan, MN 55121

2. RSR
7870 W. Morris St.
Indianapolis, IN 46231

The SBS recycling process is very efficient as 99% of the original materials end up being reused.

Lead acid batteries used in your electric lift trucks and most starting and deep cycle applications are just some of the batteries we can pick up and properly recycle . Ni-Cad batteries are also able to be recycled, but require different handling. They are typically used in computers, scanners and other similar applications, but must be kept separate from the lead acid types when recycling. SBS can dispose of Ni-Cad batteries for a fee, based on total weight of batteries to be disposed of at the following site:

Inmetco
245 Potersville Rd.
Elwood City, PA 16117

All waste materials are stored within the confines of SBS’ warehouse. The waste is not housed in our facility for any longer than 30 days.

SBS can provide a consistent market for your battery disposal needs. Should you have any questions or concerns, contact us at
