Single Point Watering Systems (SPWS) are great for efficiently filling forklift batteries with water. They save time and labor, making material handling operations like warehouses and distribution centers more efficient. And safer, so operators don’t need to remove batteries from their lift trucks to water their batteries.
There are 2 types of water systems:
- Low pressure water systems allow you to water your battery with pressure as low as 3 psi and has float-based caps. Works best with conventional charging applications.
- High pressure water systems require at least 25 psi to fill your battery. There are no floats in the caps and they are designed to work in harsh, abusive environments.
Certain models can fill a battery in 15 seconds, which is unbelievably quick. That enables you to fill eight forklift batteries in the same time it takes to fill one. Two to three shift operations where you’re opportunity charging, an INJ Injector Water System would work because of its durability.
Even though they’re built for harsh environments, our battery service technicians see a lot of damaged SPWS’s in the field. Bent hoses, broken ends, especially if they are changing batteries. We always tell people a SPWS is not a “get-out-of jail-free” card. They need to be inspected, quarterly at a minimum, to make sure they are working properly and the batteries are being watered properly.
When cared for, an SPWS is a reliable battery watering solution. How they work is simple. Water injectors automatically fill each battery cell to the right level.
